Ever MacGyvered an IT solution? Got photo evidence? Or did your predecessor leave you with core switches powered by an exercise bike and servers propped up with broom handles? I've created the Flickr group for you: "Ghetto IT" http://bit.ly/9DaGqp
The inspiration behind this is Isaac's thread called "Isaac? The ghetto is calling, they want their servers back." I figured that we all had our own run-ins with ghetto IT whether we were the originators of it or merely the unfortunate stewards of it.
Got anything to contribute? Want to join the group? Want to be a Thug Operator of the group? Lemme know over at Flick-to-the-r.
I don't really have anymore pictures of ghetto hardware unfortunately (but only unfortunate in this context!). But I've still got shaky software out there; maybe some screen shots? Or is that too boring?
Yeah, sure. Messed up software solutions are welcomed as well. Like... database monitoring scripts that insert data and drop it to see if the connection is up. Whatever. The group's direction is determined by its members so make it whatever you want it to be.
