Anyone get presents, a card or even a "Happy SysAdmin Day" as they walked in this morning?
I think we should also consider today as the System Administrator Appreciators appreciation day and thank those who recognize today and have thanked their SysAdmin.
So if your boss gave you a new phone or a half day off, why not big them up here and let everyone know how cool they are.
Yes, we've celebrated it! Nothing as extreme as a day off, but they got three cheers from the company. I'll post a picture of the 'Happy SysAdmin Day' cake a little later :-)
Also, there's a jumping internal forum discussion about the great things the SAs have done around here: quick responses to crises, well-executed projects, etc. But the main thing everyone appreciates is a helpful attitude: jumping in to help wthout making the petitioner feel like an idiot (even when they have been).
Friday was probably one of the busiest, stressful and all round worst day I've had for a good while so the only thing I could do was to HTFU ...... and then go for a beer or two. :o) lol
Friday night, I went to an amazing party with 50 sysadmins in New York City. Our party was sponsored by Etsy, who picked up the bar tab. It was an amazingly fun time, and I think everyone enjoyed it. I haven't heard from anyone who didn't, anyway.
I'm working on getting pictures up. Hopefully soon!
