Have any one worked with this type of POS (Point Of Sale), Normally it's used on Hypermarkets to manage sales process.
It's a little complex to manage at the first time, you will consider it as stupid machine, once you bring it to function you will see it's really heavy load machine.
Currently I have weird problem in connecting one of this machins to my network, I received PIX3$ message on the display!
I tested the cable to connect any other device to access resources to that point it's working fine.
It was related to some configuration on the IBM 4690 OS, You have to configure this type of POS machines to accept the DHCP broadcasting to get it's network ID.
Any way it was done by the IBM support guys, who wasn't clear enough. I Guess because it's a property OS.
Thanks for the update! Niche operating systems and hardware like that can be such a pain. I'm shuddering just thinking about an older POS system that I had tertiary contact with once. The two main technologies that it relied upon were serial cables and NetBIOS. :'(
