The SysAdmin Network

No more hiding in the server room

Over the years I've built up a hefty collection of admin scripts of various types for all sorts of activities. Shell scripts, vbscripts, powershell to name a few.

The location, list and purpose of these scripts and versions are becoming quite a headache to maintain. I'm curious to hear how other admins organize their scripts and tools.

Do you use some kind of repository or just a folder structure for these things?

Wesley has posted on his blog (original story) about a project on github that is aiming to become "a central collection of scripts and utilities that are useful to the brotherhood of the sysadmin."

This sounds like a good idea and I have it bookmarked to come back to when time allows.

If you have a tonne of scripts that you have the rights to share, perhaps this is as good a place as any to store them.

Thanks I'll take a look at that.
