On a 2008 server you should be able to remove it from Server Manager-> Remove Features
Good luck :)
Dear Cameron
I tired to from Remove Features. It gave me the option to Remove WID. But it didnt uninstall with an error " This action is only valid for products that are currently installed" ..Please reply
Have you heard of the 'Windows Installer Clean Up'? I used this tool very often though it's used on the XP workstations but not on the server. It wouldn't hurt to try it out in your case...google it and try it out.

As an alternative if nothing works, when was the last time you backup the AD server (system state and NTDIS database) using ntbackup? If you had a backup prior to installing WSS 3.0, you can use ntbackup to restore the AD contents and it will remove all WSS 3.0/WID instances.

As a best practice, no apps should be installed on the DC/AD server, except for DNS and DHCP. Additionally, before making any changes to the DC/AD server, you should always backup the system for recovery purposes.

Good luck.
