No more hiding in the server room

Hi all

July is going to be hardware month - and we have a prize to giveaway - a Slingbox Solo (worth $180).

Ask a colleague to take a photo of you with your favourite bit of hardware, post the photo on the Network, and then make a forum post telling us what it is and what is good about it

Then, early August, we can all have a vote on the best post, and the most popular one will win a Slingbox Solo.

So what do you all think? Come on, photograph and post away below!!!

The music was too loud, it was hard to actually hear what he was saying. Other then that cool video.
May I suggest that the next photo comp is about just the opposite? I have plenty of photos of me with my least favourite bit(s) of hardware. Plenty of those where I work...
I love APC's cabinets and in particular I love that we've modularized them with these servers as a unit. This picture was taken a few weeks ago as we were moving out of a datacenter with power and cooling issues. These were the last cabinets to go. Because each of the cabinets were so well organized, we just pulled up the mounting feet, unplugged the cabinet cross connects, and rolled each one away to a new datacenter on a different floor of the building. In fact we moved our entire datacenter presence, from going offline to coming online, in under 4 hours.

wow, that's great looking!
Those are really nice looking racks.

Any rack that is that well organized gets my vote!
OK, I'll add mine!

My favorite piece of kit is...all of it. Infrastructure work in general!

Here's me somewhere around 3 years ago working on our very first colocated rack. Since I work by myself, it's difficult to get pictures of me ;-) If I were being described in a nature program, "elusive" might be the adjective thrown around ;-)

Rack Installation

Though for individual hardware, it's GOT to by my blades

Racked Blades

I've got a set of those at the primary and secondary sites. I *heart* everything about them, except for the DRAC
Beautiful, although they could do without the stickers.
Eh, it's the only way I can keep 10 machines straight ;-)
Are those 1955s or 1855s I cant quite tell.

Ive got 3 chassis full of 1855s. Not my favorite equipment by a long shot. Too much power draw for what you get IMHO. (the 1855s) I hear the 1955s are pretty good.
