I work from home on multiple jobs and projects. What is this "days" thing you speak of? My time is segmented into "awake" and "asleep". I just wish someone would turn off that big, bright light outside. Someone leaves it on for like 145 whole hours…

I only work from home when I'm sick (cold or something contagious) or once in a while. I'd suggest on your "lunch" get up, go to the store, go for a walk, do something outside the house. That should help. Also, make sure you're not working from 8A…

We use SCCM, and yes it has proven very useful deploying software to our systems. Its not something I'd enjoy working without as the last twodays is testament too - I had to deploy software to 50 people without a remote deployment solution and boy w…

Is that like making up your hours? Years ago I worked with a guy who was regularly in late and left early, took long lunches etc. Our boss told him he had to make his hours up, or else disciplinary action would follow. A month later all was well a…

I suspect that you feel like you need to prove that you are busy whilst working at home, either to yourself or to your colleagues. Perhaps as a result you are over compensating by working longer hours. -? If this is the case, be sure you have a lis…

I agree with Adam... Choose to do something that is not work related: Get outside and walk around the block, driving to the store, etc. I take a walk to the corner and make a point to talk to someone that is not related to my work.

I've worked from home about half of the last 15 years or so. I can't do it for more than about 2-3 years at a stretch before I need to get back to a real office. I haven't found any quick fixes for the blurring problem, but it does seem to lessen o…

Address Denied Issue & Solution

Whilst working on our Navision Upgrade today I came across an error indicating that we couldn't start the Web Services on our server due to a permissions error (HTTP could not register URL).

A short GoogleFu later and I discovered it was caused by the new method of elevating an account to administrator status, it doesn't happen when you run a service.

In order to get the web service running on our Server 2008 machine I followed the instructions

Virtualisation - Where we are

This is the second part of my look in to virtualisation, its taken a while to get here as life got in the way.

Looking through System Center Virtual Machine Manager right now I can see we currently have 16 Hyper-V powered virtual servers in production, with a hand ful of other VM's going through testing to reach production. Looking back it has taken us some hard work to get where we are currently and in getting here we've learned serveral important lessons regarding Virtuali

Building our virtual environment

At work I’m trying to get my head around our virtualisation, like many companies we have sort of just sprawled as the days went on building new VM’s for almost any request just so we didn’t have to buy any more ‘expensive’ hardware. I have been working with Virtualisation software for the past 4 and a half years, almost from the day I started my current job.

During this period I have worked wit
