Where can I get a specialized EULA made for my website?

I have a website I'm working on, but need to have a EULA designed for the specific usage of the site. People must accept it before using the features. Standard legal blah-blah "Please don't sue me"…Continue

Is a Cisco 2501 router still useful for a CCNA lab?

I've got an ancient 2501 router sitting in a box next to me. I have no idea what IOS is on it, although I'd suspect it was 12.2. I wonder as I look at it "is it even worth the space it's taking…Continue

Do storage servers with vertical mounted drives still exist? (Alternative title: Oh Thumper Where Art Thou?)

I'm kicking around an idea that would need a few high density storage servers. Does everyone remember the Sun Thumper? That's what I'm looking for. I suppose I could get one on eBay, but I'm hoping that there's a hardware manufacturer that has a still-produced server that has drives suspended in that form factor. 48 drives in 3u is way more attractive than the standard form factor of 24 drives in 4u. Note well: I'm not…See More

Wesley "Nonapeptide"'s Blog

APC creates unobtrusive equipment racks that look like furniture.

This is basically a copy and paste from my own blog, but I wanted to get some targeted feedback from fellow admins on this topic.

Plenty of admins/consultants have to deal with small offices and branch offices that need a server or three, a firewall and maybe some switches. But where to put them? Usually those devices end up being bunkmates with mops and 5-gallon containers of Janitor in a Drum. However, APC has created their NetShelter CX series that looks like an unobtrusive pieces… Continue

Small Office Disaster Recovery == Disaster (--Recovery)

The office is small. Really small. So small that you can answer the front door with one hand while you use the other hand to spray roach repellent around the back door. The mobile workforce that the office directly supports is equally small and I'm partially responsible for supporting both of them. I say "partially" because I work part time... on a volunteer basis... from 1,000 miles away. The remaining part of the time that I'm not helping the office the users create their own "solutions". I'm new and I'm creating Zombies

Being a new member here, I feel a bit like a kid in a candy store. Except I'm hypoglycemic. So I feel like a kid in a GNC store with a coupon for $5 off BioChem Whey Protein. Excuse me while I resurrect dead threads and dig up some zombie blog posts with my comments. Except my Zombies don't want brains. They want desktop manufacturers to stop offering PS/2 keyboards and mice.

If anyone can explain why PS/2 equipment hasn't yet been banned by the UN, WTO, EU and FCCC please comment.

I will. I moved from gull time sales to full time IT about ten years ago... but I still "consult" on the side. In fact, since my hours at the day job got trimmed, the consulting thing is keeping me in Melba Toast. :)
