I suppose that I didn't consider calling Redhat because I don't know the contract status with my client. That would make sense :-P. I guess I was using this problem as an opportunity to learn more about RHEL and to discover what…

Have you tried calling Red Hat? The only valuable service that paying the big bucks for RHEL provides is technical support. They should be able to help you out. The concept of a generic diagnostic tool for a Linux operating system doesn't…

Diagnostic tools for RHEL 4/5?

SysAdmin's,I am relatively new to Redhat, but very experienced in Sun Solaris. Recently, 2 of my companies' RHEL 5 servers have experienced a few crashes. Core dumps are not enabled. But even if they were, how readable are they? A cursory check of the web shows no other valid tools to identify problems within Redhat. I am hoping some of you could identify tools such as Sun's prtdiag, Sun VTS, or the OK prompt's diag-switch.Thanks,Phillip PachecoSee More

Have you looked at Turnkeylinux.org , for some of their solutions? They have Live CD versions of most if not all of their offerings. I have used some of their solutions as testbed material, to get a feel of the installed software, and it it is easy…

I was coming in here to recommend Confluence but it sounds like that’s a no go. How about Trac?

Wiki software reccomendations?

I am on a new contract, and the client does not have a technical wiki. They are interested in having me set one up, but I am not sure what to use. I have worked with Confluence, and a few others that I don't know the names of. Due to budget considerations, it is likely that Confluence or other commercial products are not a viable option.Could any of you chime in with recommendations? Particularly, I am hoping to benefit from someone else's research on this subject.I am hoping to meet the…See More

Phillip Pacheco replied to Isaac's discussion 'Let's talk about out of band management'
When deciding between using serial console management vs. ILOM (Integrated Lights Out Management) you should weigh the advantages of each. Serial console connectivity is truly "out of band access". That is to say, you won't be…
