Generate HTML Reports in Exchange 2007

It is now easy to produce HTML reports with Exchange 2007 automatically with the task scheduler, and have them published to a web directory.

The follwing command would produce a HTML report of mailbox statistics, as seen below, but could include anything that can be scripted in powershell.

Get-MailboxStatistics | Select DisplayName, ItemCount | Sort ItemCount | ConvertTo-HTML –Property DisplayName, ItemCount >C:\report.htm

Exchange 2007 Installation - Pre requisites / Things to consider

The server that will host the Exchange Server 2007 installation needs to have a 64-bit processor and a 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2003 or later installed.
However for testing and lab enviroments you can use the 32 bit version which is not supported in a production enviroment.

The domain controllers and DNS servers in the environment, can have 32-bi… Continue

Exchange 2007 Powershell commands - Import / Export PST files

The first thing I want to cover is Importing and Exporting PST files, I once carried out an exchange 2003 migration project, using exmerge to export pst files from 2003 and Exchange Management Shell (ESM) to import them. This approach only made sense as we were moving to a brand new domain in a new forest.

Requirements

In order to export or import mailboxes to PST files the following requirements must be met:

1) Export/Import to PST must be run from a 32 bit client machin… Continue

Virtualisation, The Why the How and the Who - Part 1 Why

Virtualisation means running software within a virtual environment. Virtual environments are created when operating systems and desktop applications are emulated, and don’t run directly on physical hardware. When software is virtualised, you can run several applications and operating systems on one physical server.

Opting to go Virtual isn't new, in fact many companies took the plunge very early and adopted virtualisation, some had real business reason; others had no real reason other than cons… Continue
