No more hiding in the server room

Being a new member here, I feel a bit like a kid in a candy store. Except I'm hypoglycemic. So I feel like a kid in a GNC store with a coupon for $5 off BioChem Whey Protein. Excuse me while I resurrect dead threads and dig up some zombie blog posts with my comments. Except my Zombies don't want brains. They want desktop manufacturers to stop offering PS/2 keyboards and mice.

If anyone can explain why PS/2 equipment hasn't yet been banned by the UN, WTO, EU and FCCC please comment.

I just got a machine from penguin computing today...12 cores, 32 gigs of ram. PS2 keyboard and mouse ports. I didn't think the bus on those motherboards could go that slow LOL

I'm waiting for someone who knows these things to come up with a perfectly logical reason for PS/2s continued existence on advanced hardware. Unfortunately, I think that person has been issued a federal gag order. I recently went through a hardware closet at a medium sized organization (~250 people) and found over 100 PS/2 keyboards that ultimately ended up in a landfill. Wished I could have given them away to someone/someplace.
