We have an annual Biggest Loser contest here at work, and I am going to represent the IT group this time around.
I have noticed that some of us do not handle the stresses of the job and/or are getting older (chronologically at least..), and need to shed some of the weight that we might have gained over the winter months.
When I am not at work, I am still thinking of work, or reading, studying, researching about topics related to work. Most of this is done reading a book, a blog, or hammering away at a keyboard. I love the process of learning a new process, or a new way of using processes that I use now in different ways. How many hours have I spent getting a server set up just so, putting off sleep to get it done.
Making a commitment to your health not only helps relieve the stress from our work (or vocation, obsession, etc), but can put a fresh prospective on ourselves, and can stave off "Burn Out" that can happen from overwork, long hours, and semi-sedentary working conditions.
Sometimes doing things that help the most aren't IT related, but are important the same.
